UDA employs a progressive system of learning technique. Students will be placed in the correct level according to their individual ability and muscle development. Our progressive system of learning concentrates on muscular development, motor skills, progressive, but not forced flexibility, muscle memory, center of balance, and technical skills. This method keeps students challenged, yet allows students to enter dance at a level commensurate with their skill no matter their age. All dance styles are available to all students.
Placement: UDA encourages you to register for class based on the age and experience of the dancer. During the first four classes, the instructor will evaluate each dancer to make sure the class is appropriate in age, level, and attention span. UDA teachers and staff reserve the right to place the dancer in the appropriate higher or lower UDA class level to ensure the closest match.
Level 1: Baby Bee Bop
Designed for preschoolers ages 2-3. Students will learn creative movement, ballet and jazz. Students will also learn classroom etiquette such as raising your hand, taking turns and respecting others.
Level 2: Tiny Tots
Designed for preschoolers ages 3-4. Students will learn creative movement, ballet and jazz. Students will also learn classroom etiquette such as raising your hand, taking turns & respecting others. This is a good physical activity to help coordination, rhythm and fitness develop as well as a great introduction to dance technique. The primary goal is to fostera love of movement. The creative component is quite large. Several fun or special activities happen in each class. For example, a scarf or flag dance at the end can facilitate the dancer’s own physical expression. Taking part in dancing outa narrative helps children to understand that dancing is expression. It is a means of communicating feelings & actions.
Level 3: Pre-Dance

The class includes concepts that are found in an older child’s dance class. 1 or 2 creative or free components are also included within each class.
