We also offer private lessons. Our group lessons conclude with a recital in June. Our instructors have years of experience and continue their training and education throughout the year. First, search web sites. Most will have a schedule and general information. Make sure to take note of the faculty, then, call ahead to arrange a visit. Most reputable schools will invite you to tour the studios. Are classes fitness based, inspiring and enriching? Arrive early, so you can meet the teacher. You may wish to observe with your child. Notice... is the studio clean, light and airy? Do the studios have mirrors, barres’, and sound systems? The studio floors should be "Marley" or wood, never concrete. Is the staff friendly, eager to answer your questions and accommodating? Is parking available?
Second, note the interaction of the children with the teacher. Are students encouraged in a positive manner? Are they taught to understand music? Are they working together as a team as well as individually? Are they dancing for enjoyment and freedom of expression? Is dance terminology used? Are there performing opportunities? Is a Dance Company associated with the studio? Dance wear and proper, ballet, tap or jazz shoes should be required. Regulation colors may also be part of the dress code, for a more consistent look. Are multiple dance styles offered? Is ballet streesed as a fundamental part of a dancer’s traing? Are there multiple levels of classes and workshops offered at the more advanced levels? Does the school host Dance Camps and Workshops?
Third, inquire about the cost of tuition. Many people look for the least expensive classes, without comparing the quality of the programs. Most recreational-type classes, offered at recreation facilities are introductory classes at best. They may cost less than that of a private dance studio, but are usually taught by less experienced teachers.
Fourth, and perhaps most important, consider the experience, training and teaching background of the faculty. Also take note of professional training and performance history. Also consider that a professional dancer is NOT ALWAYS the best teacher. Rather, someone who loves children and desires to share that love will be more patient and attentive as a teacher.
Finally, when entrusting your child’s welfare to a private teacher, choose a studio that inspires the children, conducts orderly classes as well as has a strong emphasis on learning proper technique. Unfortunately, low standards still exist among some teachers. With more education, consumers can help raise the standards, by making the best possible choices when deciding on a Dance Studio.

So, what exactly makes us unique?
- We are the largest Dance facility in Northwest Indiana (IN), featuring five dance studios.
- Professional dance floors: All our studios feature special cushioned flooring (sprung with O'Mara materials and StageStep Coverings. This provides UDA dancers with the maximum amount of cushion for their comfort (reducing fatigue) and safety (to prevent injury).
- Our main studios are joined by a viewing room so you can watch the students and teachers interact. Feel free to video or take pictures from the viewing room.
- Northwest Indiana didn't have a place where people could go to do a variety of things. So, we offer a variety of classes, instructing ALL age groups.
- Our class variety includes: children's dance, ballet, hip-hop, ballroom dance, pole aerobics, pole dancing, mommy & me, adult dance, jazz, tap, competitive team, lyrical, conditioning & flexibility, musical theatre, tumbling, salsa & more!
- We offer a Study Room for our clients, with computers & internet access for parents or siblings of those taking classes.
- Our Children's Playroom is equipped with DirecTV and video games so feel free to stick around in between classes. (Excellent for the siblings of our students.)
- We even have drinks and snacks available in the office for your convenience.
- Our dance classes are designed on a progressive system of learning, which groups students by experience, rather than age. According to Melina, "It allows us to keep everybody at the same level. We want everyone to come and learn correctly."
- In listening to what customers want, and to stay ahead of the competition, we offer classes such as pole dancing, popular with females aged 40 and up.
- To make things more customer-friendly, a software package was purchased, allowing for class registrations and payments online.
- Melina also plans to approach corporate sponsors to offer dance scholarships. She says, "It would be a great way to give back to the community."
- Opportunity to compete Nationally.
- Excellent customer service: in addition to our instructors, we have dedicated staff available to answer your questions, whenever you need to ask them! Come talk with us!
