UDA employs a progressive system of learning technique. Students will be placed in the correct
level according to their individual ability and muscle development.  Our progressive system of
learning concentrates on muscular development, motor skills, progressive, but not forced
flexibility, muscle memory, center of balance, and technical skills. This method keeps students
challenged, yet allows students to enter dance at a level commensurate with their skill no
matter their age. All dance styles are available to all students.
Level 1:  Baby Bee Bop
Designed for preschoolers ages 2-3. Students will learn creative movement, ballet and jazz. Students will also learn
classroom etiquette such as raising your hand, taking turns and respecting others.

Level 2:  Tiny Tots
Designed for preschoolers ages 3-4. Students will learn creative movement, ballet and jazz. Students will also learn
classroom etiquette such as raising your hand, taking turns & respecting others.
This is a good physical activity to help
coordination, rhythm and fitness develop as well as a great introduction to dance technique.
The primary goal is to foster
a love of movement.
The creative component is quite large. Several fun or special activities happen in each class. For
example, a scarf or flag dance at the end can facilitate the dancer’s own physical expression.
Taking part in dancing out
a narrative helps children to understand that dancing is expression.
It is a means of communicating feelings & actions.

Level 3:  Pre-Dance
Approximately ages 4-5, the same format in a more mature manner. Having fun while being in a structured activity,
learning self-discipline and the development of motor skills is our main priority. This level covers a basis of movement
found in all dance forms.  The goal is to foster creativity, freedom and expression in movement, and a love for dance.
The class includes concepts that are found in an older child’s dance class.  1 or 2 creative or free components are also
included within each class.  By the end of the year the students can do a dance set independent of the teacher,
memorize simple exercises and sequences, and make a start of musical interpretation.

Level 4:  Kinder-Dance
Approximately ages 5-6 years old, your child will be taught flexibility, arm placement, head alignment, rhythmic
counting, stretching of feet, basic turn out and the foundation for Tap, Jazz, Ballet and performance.

Level 5
60 minute classes for students ages 7-9. Students will focus on technique. Students are highly encouraged to enroll in a
Level 1 ballet class as well as jazz and/or tap.

Level 6
60 minute classes for students ages 9-11. Students will focus on intermediate technique and learn more advanced
moves and choreography sequences. Students are highly encouraged to enroll in a Level 2 ballet class as well as jazz
and/or tap.

Level 7
Approximately ages 11-13, for Intermediate to Advanced students

Level  8
Approximately ages 13-18, this class is focused on extended choreography and competitive level moves and techniques.

Level  9
Competitive team dance

Level 10:  Adult
There is no reason to stop dancing at any point in your life.  This level is structured around the abilities of those in each
class.   This is a great way to maintain your flexibility and conditioning as well as forming some new friendships.
